The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2023 Africa Games has scheduled February 8, 2024, for a test run of hosting facilities in Accra.
The Minister for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, says work on hosting is completed, with contractors set to undergo the handing over.
Speaking after a meeting with the Technical Committee for the Africa Games and the LOC, Mustapha Ussif extended an invitation to the media to cover the testing of the facilities by Team Ghana.
“The work on the facilities is finished, and the contracts are receiving their handing over certificates. For the work on the facilities, we are done,” Ussif said.
“On the 8th of February, Team Ghana will use the hosting facilities for a test run. So, I am standing on this platform to invite the media to come and publicise it for us.”
However, per Joy Sports’ last visit to the center of the games, the University of Ghana Stadium, on Friday, January 26, work was still ongoing in earnest.
Fixing tartan tracks in the main stadium is yet to start, but the fixing has began at the warm up the track.
