The University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC) will be organizing its 2nd University-wide inter-faculty research seminar on Friday, January 26th, 2024.

The seminar aims at enhancing training and curriculum for language translation education in Ghana and the diaspora.

Ms. Siddarthar Agortimevor, an Assistant Lecturer at UniMAC’s Institute of Languages (UniMAC-IL), will be leading the discussion.

With her extensive knowledge and experience in the field, Ms Agortimevor is expected to provide insights and perspectives on the topic "Redefining training and curriculum for translator/interpreter education: Towards the valorisation of media, Arts and communication prospects".

The seminar is scheduled to start at 10:00 am on Friday and will be conducted virtually via Zoom, ensuring accessibility for participants from various locations.

This UniMAC-DRID inter-faculty seminar seeks to offer a unique opportunity and platform for students, Faculty members, professionals and researchers in the field of translation and interpretation to engage in meaningful discussions, exchange ideas, and contribute to the development of the university community and the communication sector at large.

Language translation and interpretation play a pivotal role in bridging language barriers and facilitating effective communication in today's globalized world.

However, with the rapid advancements in media, arts, and communication, it is essential to enhance the training and curriculum in this field to meet the evolving demands and opportunities available for prospects and professionals in the field.

The research Seminar will also address challenges professionals may face in the field and explore innovative approaches to bridging the gap in translator/interpreter education.

By incorporating media, arts, and communication prospects, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the potential applications and benefits of these disciplines in their professional development.
