Award-winning gospel artiste, Sonnie Badu, has called for French trainer, Hervé Renard, to be appointed as the coach of the senior national team, the Black Stars of Ghana.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the singer expressed confidence in the former French player; adding that the country should foot any cost to engage his services.
'I want this man (Hervé Renard) to coach the Black Stars. Pay him whatever he charges', Sonnie Badu wrote.
Mr Badu's comments come at a time when hundreds of supporters are lamenting the decline in the quality of the Black Stars, following the team's lack-luster performance in their first AFCON game against Cape Verde on Sunday.
After equalising from a Djiku-header in the 56th minute, the Stars went to sleep again in the dying embers of the game, allowing Cape Verde to steal a later winner through Rodrigues at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny.
The defeat has since become a topical issue with many fans calling for the head of the coach, Chris Hughton. According to his critics, he lacks the needed expertise to lead the team to a successful campaign at this year's AFCON in the Ivory Coast.
One of the aggrieved fans reportedly attacked him verbally after the loss to Cape Verde; mirroring the extent of anger in the hearts of many Ghanaian fans.
Meanwhile, the team says it is poised to redeem its image in their next fixture against Egypt on Tuesday.
After grabbing even points in their opening fixture against Mozambique, Salah's men will be looking to spoil the party for the Black Stars, who must win the game to heighten their chances of progressing to the next stage of the competition.
