Member of Parliament for Pru West, Stephen Pampiin Jalula, is now the Mpuntuohene (Developmental Chief) of the Abease Traditional area.
This title was conferred on Mr. Jalula, who also serves as the Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways, during the climax of the Kwabena Yam Festival at Abease.
The Abeasemanhene presented him with the stool in recognition of his role in the massive road infrastructure the area is witnessing.
The Kwabena Yam Festival is observed yearly by the chief and people of Abease in the Pru West district of the Bono East Region. This year's edition, witnessed by former President John Mahama, government officials, and other dignitaries from near and far, aimed to promote unity among the citizenry.
Former President John Mahama commended the Abease people for their contributions to food production.
The Bono East Regional Minister, Kwasi Adu-Gyan, who represented Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, assured the people of Abease of plans to convert the Abease Community Day School into a boarding school.
The newly-installed chief and legislator, Nana Stephen Pampiin Jalula, also called for dialogue in solving the cattle menace in the area.
The Omanhene of Abease, Obrempong Kru Takyi II called for unity of purpose to develop the area.
He thanked the NPP Government for the construction of the Prang-Abease-Kintampo highway.
