Hundreds of revellers from various parts of Accra thronged the Kokrobite beach in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region on New Year's Day.
Revellers started arriving in buses, private cars and on motorbikes tugging along mats and lazy chairs, many of them dressed in their beach costumes.
The revellers engaged in games such as horse riding, volley ball, draught, and football while food vendors and khebab sellers made fast sales.
Curiously, there were good numbers of minors swimming on their own, and the usual presence of the Marine Police absent on this occasion.
