Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton says Mohammed Kudus is best suited to the No.10 role despite his recent success on the right wing.
Kudus has played some of his best games this season playing as the right winger both at Ajax and now at West Ham United.
His recent performances have led to calls for him to be deployed in the same role when he plays with the national.
However, Hughton believes Kudus will thrive better by being closer to goal.
"He’s a very talented player there’s no doubt," the Irish trainer said on TalkSPORT.
"The type of player he is, you look at him as a 10 because he’s a goal scorer, you want to get him close to goal but he has had good success playing on that right-hand side."
The 23-year-old has scored eight goals for the Hammers so far since arriving in the summer from Ajax.
