The chief of Anyimaye in the Asunafo North Municipality of the Ahafo Region, Nana Owusu Adu (II), is appealing to the government to regulate the operations of timber truck drivers in the municipality.
According to him, these truck drivers work late into the night, and considering the deplorable nature of their roads, their activities pose a threat to commuters especially motorcyclists.
In an interview with Adom News, the chief explained that some of the heavy-duty truck drivers always exceed their 6pm closing time; hence, the need to restrict their activities.
“Some years ago by 6 pm, timber cars stopped operating but today even at 12 or 1 am they are still working. It’s very dangerous and it’s killing those who use motors. Using this opportunity, we are asking the government to help stop the operations of timber trucks drivers after 6 pm,” he said on Thursday, December 7, 2023.
Nana Owusu Adu (II) further called on the government to continue with the repair works on the road as it will also help to curb road accidents in the community.
“You have seen how the roads are. They have fixed it to a certain point and now, we need help in completing it so it will help us,” he said.
