An indigene of Akim Swedru in the Eastern Region, and a philanthropist, Kwasi Kwaning-Bosompem has supported the Akim Swedru Senior High School by making available some pressing needs of the school.
As part of his contributions to the area, Kwasi Kwaning-Bosompem, who’s the Controller and Accountant General, gave the school 400 student mattresses, 200 metallic beds, a 65-inch TV Set, 4 laptops, and 7 boxes of assorted books to mention a few of the items.
Due to several factors such as the increasing student population, the school’s facilities and infrastructure have been overstretched, affecting the smooth running of the educational institution.
It is against this backdrop that the Controller and Accountant General stepped in with the intervention to alleviate the plight of students and the management of the school.
Earlier in the year 2023, Mr Kwaning constructed a fence wall for the school to avert encroachment and ensure the safety of students at all times to create a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning.
The Controller and Accountant General has also supported several residents by empowering them to become economically stable through skills training.
He has also extended support to some aged residents and widows in the area.
Speaking to the media, the Senior Housemaster of the school, Mr Daniel Agyir, expressed their profound gratitude to Mr Kwaning, stating that the intervention could not have come at any better time than now.
Some of the students also thanked him for the gesture.
"We would like to say a big thank you to Mr Kwaning for always attending to our call. There hasn't been an occasion that he overlooked our plight. We promise to make good use of these materials during our stay here."
