On the back of allegations made by Mary, a former house help of highlife musician Kuami Eugene about the ordeal she went through while working for the artiste, hiplife musician Mzbel has proffered a suggestion.
The '16 Years' singer has said that instead of Kuami going in for a young woman of Mary's age, he should have settled for a nanny.
“What Kwame needs is a nanny, not a maid,” she posted on her Instagram page with the caption “harmless suggestion.”
Mary, in a recent interview revealed that she was paid a monthly salary of GHC 400 when she started working for Kuami. She had an annual increment of GHC 100.
“When I started working with him, he was paying me Gh400. However, after one year, he added Gh100 to it making my salary Gh500. The following year he did same until he recently sacked me,” Mary said.
She also recounted that she was sacked after she returned late from an errand by a female friend of the singer.
“The truth is that I got home late that day. A female friend of his asked me to deliver something and I got home after 12am that day.
He asked me why I returned late, and I explained to him. He then said he would be held responsible if something bad happened to me. So he gave me two options; to leave his house or keep receiving GHC 400,” she said.
In other accounts corroborated by Mary's mother, she collapsed several times while she lived with the musician.
Social media is awash with commentary on the issue, with most people describing the former house help as an ingrate. Some have suggested Kuami Eugene made a mistake by showing Mary so much love and putting her in the public domain.
In the meantime, Kuami Eugene is yet to make an official statement to the allegations.
