The Member of Parliament for Bawku Central constituency, Mahama Ayariga, has strongly condemned the recent shootings that led to the deaths of two individuals in Bawku in the Upper East Region.
The victims have been identified as driver, Razak Abdul Rahman, 43, and Haruna Idrisu, 31, a driver's mate.
In a press release issued on Monday, November 27, the lawmaker condemned the tragic event, stating, “I also equally condemn the infliction of gunshot wounds on the persons of (1) Musah Salifu (aged 50 years) and (2) Majed Moryure (23 years).”
“I condemn this action which has the tendency to derail the improving security situation in Bawku.
“My condolences go to the bereaved families. I also wish the injured a speedy recovery," he added.
Reports suggest that a blue and white Yutong bus was attacked on Monday morning in front of the Veterinary Services office in Bawku. The driver was shot, causing the vehicle to crash into a tree.
Following the attack, the car was reportedly set ablaze after security forces had left the scene.
