Like her world record, it appears the love that some Ghanaians had for Nigerian Chef and socialite, Hilda Bucci, is now a thing of the past.
Many Ghanaians are peeved by her comments about the long-standing war between the two countries over who makes the best jollof.

In May this year, Ghanaians were among the most visible on the continent celebrating Hilda as she cooked her way to becoming the Guinness World Record holder after her cook-a-thon.
But today, she is the center of controversy on social media a few weeks after being dethroned by Irish chef, Alan Fisher, who beat her by more than 24 hours.

“Nigerian jollof is actually better than Ghanaian jollof...With Nigerian Jollof, Nigerians don't play about flavor building,” she said on a podcast.
It all happened when Hilda reacted to questions on this matter on a podcast saying that Nigeria’s version of the delicacy was supreme because her countrymen were very keen on building flavor.

“So like we're very intentional about building the flavours and in lots of things going so there's a stock going in here. There's a spice going in the quality of the Jollof mix. Now Ghanaians tend to make their Jollof rice... the major bass is more the paste than the Jollof mix, which is like the one you make yourself."

She further added: “And that actually goes a long way in ensuring that you know the flavor comes out great. And then Ghanaians don't smoke their jollof fries. And you guys don't know how like imagine making banging, jollof rice, and then smoking it."

This has triggered a tirade of opposition from some Ghanaians who have taken to social media to vent their spleen.
