President Akufo Addo has asked the people of the Bantama constituency in the Ashanti Region to retain Hon Francis Asenso-Boakye as their Member of Parliament in the 2024 general elections.
According to the President, looking at the level of commitment and competence showed by Mr Asenso-Boakye when he served as Deputy Chief of Staff and currently, the Minister for Works and Housing, it will hurt him if the MP is not retained.
"It will hurt me so much if the people of Bantama throw him away. Allow him to represent you again and he will come and continue the good job he has been doing."
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo said this at Bantama today, Wednesday, 15th November 2023, during the commissioning of a modern Library and Technology Hub in the Bantama constituency named after him.
The new library at Bantama is the 127th Library in Ghana. The Akufo-Addo government has so far built 66 libraries across the country.
"As of 2017 when the Nana Akufo-Addo government took over, there were only 349 books in those libraries. Today, there are 1.5 million books in the 127, libraries across the country," according to the Ghana Library Authority.
Speaking at the commissioning of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo Community Library and Technology Hub, the President praised Mr Asenso Boakye, for his contribution to the Jubilee House as Deputy Chief of Staff, stating that, some workers at the Jubilee House still mention the name of the MP as a hard-working man.
Commenting on the project, the President stated that he appreciates and commends the efforts of Mr Asenso-Boakye and his decision to name the project after named after him.
He stressed that he was more happy because the project named after him was an educational one.
''Thanks for grooming Asenso-Boakye for me. He does things best'', the President added.
President Akufo-Addo also jabbed former President and flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama saying his intention to come back to the presidency is a deceit to Ghanaians.
President Akufo-Addo also told Ghanaians to ignore the NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama because he has nothing better to offer them.
However, he urged Ghanaians to eschew ethnocentric politics and religion-based politics against the flagbearer of the NPP, stressing that his competence is what matters.
He expressed the hope that Dr. Bawumia would be an excellent president.
