The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially announced the conduct of its Extraordinary Constituency Delegates Conference.
It is set to take place on Saturday, December 2, 2023.
This decision, made during a meeting by the National Executive Committee (NEC), is aimed at electing the party’s Parliamentary Candidates in constituencies where the NPP has no parliamentary representation.
In a press statement signed by the NPP's General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong on Friday, November 10, the vetting process for the aspiring Parliamentary candidates in these constituencies will take place in the regional capitals from Tuesday, November 14, to Thursday, November 16, 2023.
The statement further directed the Regional Executive Committees to communicate to their respective constituencies and aspiring parliamentary candidates the dates, time and venue for the vetting.
The Extraordinary Constituency Delegates Conference is designated for all Orphan Constituencies, excluding Ketu North, Akatsi North, Yilo Krobo, Jomoro, Fomena, and Bawku Central.
Additionally, the NEC has adjusted the date for the party’s Parliamentary Primaries in constituencies where incumbent Members of Parliament (MPs) are present.
The revised date for these primaries is January 20, 2023, with the nomination period opening on December 20, 2023, and closing on December 22, 2023.
“The party shall soon issue detailed guidelines to govern the conduct of the primaries in these constituencies,” the statement said.
The party expressed hope for the cooperation of all stakeholders in ensuring the success of the primaries and extended best wishes to all aspiring candidates.
