When they spoke about their intentions, it looked like a dream but Ampem Darkoa Ladies made the perfect start to their CAF Women's Champions League (CAFWCL) campaign on Monday.
The WAFU B champions defeated defending champions ASFAR Club in their opening game of the tournament and have suddenly become one of the most-talked-about teams in the competition.
To put things into perspective, no post on the CAF Women's Football page on 'X' has gotten more engagement than a post involving the Ghanaian side.
They may be getting the buzz at the moment but Ampem Darkoa know that there are more challenges to come than just beating ASFAR Club. They face AS Mande in their next group game on Thursday.
The Malians, unlike the Ghanaians, failed to pick up all three points in their first game in San Pedro. In fact, they needed a late strike from Fatoumata Karentao to earn a point against Huracanes FC.
AS Mande are not new to the competition having been present in the maiden edition in 2021 where they also faced Ghanaian opposition in Hasaacas Ladies,
In fact, they finished bottom in Group A as they only amassed one point after three games. That tally has already been equalled after their draw against Huracanes.
For Ampem Darkoa Ladies, Joe Nana Adarkwa has cautioned his side against complacency after the famous win.
A win for the Techiman-based side will see them move to six points after two games and secure their position in the next round of the tournament.
While a draw will not be a bad result, the Nana Mma will look to wrap things up early before looking ahead to the next task against Huracanes later on.
For AS Mande, a defeat could likely end any hopes of making it out of the group as their last group game will be against ASFAR.
Thursday's game between Ampem Darkoa Ladies and AS Mande is scheduled to kickoff at 20:00 GMT.
