Ningo-Prampram MP, Sam George is threatening to obstruct the movement of President Akufo-Addo in his constituency if he fails to fix the dilapidated Afienya-Dawhenya bridge.
According to him, despite all his efforts to lobby for funds for the bridge to be fixed, nothing has been done about its deplorable nature.
Speaking in the interview on JoyNews’ AM show on Wednesday, he said in order to get the needed attention his last resort would be to team up with his constituents to restrict the President’s movement.
“If he is saying and I agree with him and I have served notice on a bridge in Ningo-Prampram that if the President does not work on it and I see him crossing my constituency again, I will stop his convoy with my constituents,” he told host, Benjamin Akpakpo.
His response was a rebuttal to an accusation by an aspiring contender for the Ningo-Prampram parliamentary seat, John Akwetey Manste, that the vociferous Legislator was the worst thing that happened to the constituency.
Mr George on the back of that explained that for half of the year, all attempts to get the relevant authorities to address the bad nature of the bridge have proven futile hence his drastic decision.
“I have spent the last six months literarily begging in this country to fix the bridge. Kissing every backside I need to kiss. They are waiting for my constituents to die before they fix that bridge,” he lamented.
He stressed that he lived in fear that until someone lost their lives, the government would do nothing about the situation. He therefore appealed to the minister of roads to address the situation to prevent any such occurrence.
The Legislator also added that for the aspiring contender to suggest that he did nothing to better the living conditions of his constituents was proof that the ruling government had failed since the country has just come out of the year 2022, which the President declared as the year of roads.
