Disc jockey, Michael Asheley, popularly known as DJ Ashmen, says unlike other genres of music from other countries, Ghanaian songs do not captivate audiences.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty on Thursday, he cited an explanation of why DJs do not play Ghanaian music as frequently as they do other countries' music.
According to him, he would not describe our songs as poor. He would rather say that, unlike earlier releases, something is missing that makes them no longer resonate with listeners.
"A lot is missing in our songs from production and content. I remember I played a Duduke song from Nigeria at a party, and everyone was dancing it to but when I switched to a Ghanaian song, they all went back to their seats.”
According to him, the groove a song like Wutah’s ‘Kotosa’ had is missing in today’s songs.
