The Gestalt Africa Leadership Programme (GALP) has held an international training conference to equip business leaders with invaluable tools and perspectives for personal and professional development at individual, team, organisational, and systemic levels.
The event held at the Fiesta Royale in Accra on Wednesday, October 25 and attended by participants from various countries aimed to foster enhanced self-reflection and awareness.
GALP's programme empowered individuals to move beyond ideation and awareness generation, and to focus on the effective implementation of ideas, even in the face of resistance. Through supervised client engagements with organisations in the programme's host countries, participants had the opportunity to bolster their presence and influence.
Dr. Nana S.K.B. Asante, the Paramount Chief of Asokore Asante in the Ashanti Region, graced the occasion as the guest speaker.
He emphasised the paramount importance of consensus-building in leadership.
Dr. Asante contended that this approach is essential for leaders to navigate their roles smoothly without encountering undue discord from their followers.
He said, "The consensual approach I have spoken about can be used. It is something that a modern leader must use. Leaders should see governance as inclusive and that everyone is important, it will help. It shouldn’t always be about striving to win power and stay in government. But everyone’s view should matter."
Dr Asante underscored the contemporary relevance of chieftaincy and lamented the restriction that prevents chiefs from participating in parliamentary elections. He highlighted the crucial role chieftaincy plays in upholding law and order within the communities, emphasising their pivotal role in tasks such as mobilizing people for communal endeavours.
