The National Ghana Parade Council has honoured the Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Stephen Asamoah Boateng for his immense contribution to the development of the Ghanaian community in Bronx.
Catherine Cudjoe, popularly known as Keymama in New York and beyond, presented the citation of merit to the minister on Tuesday, 24th October at the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs in Accra.
The merit follows the minister’s effort to inspire and lift the African community in Bronx Borough on the occasion of the Queens of Africa event.
On the heels of the Queens of Africa event, three Ghanaian queen mothers; Naa Oboshie Tackie II of the Adjen Kotoku – Kwaiteman Kooman District; the Divisional Queen of Kabiewe Kponor at the Ada Traditional Area, Naana Akleh Kateye Brempong, and Princess Abui Kpormegbe of the Tamakloe Palace in Whuti joined Keymama to present the honour.
Expressing his gratitude to the National Ghana Parade Council and the people of Bronx Borough, Stephen Asamoah Boateng said: “I would like to thank the President of the Borough of the Bronx. It would have been nice to be in New York to receive this citation in the full glare of the public. God willing, we have enough time to organize the trip properly and then we can all be there. We are hoping next year will be a good time.”
The date for next year’s edition of the Queens of Africa event in Bronx is yet to be announced.
Dates for Ghanaian events in New York, Ghanafest-NY and Summerstage for the 2024 edition will also be communicated in due course.
