Multiple award-winning musician, Samini has described the usual comparison between Ghanaian and Nigerian artistes as discriminating.

Speaking in an interview on Daybreak Hitz with DJ Slim, he lamented that the difference in population size between Ghana and Nigeria is relatively large.

He claimed that owing to the population disparity, it is difficult for a musician in Ghana to receive the same number of million streams as a musician in Nigeria.

"With the country that I'm coming from and the number of people from my country, it's ridiculous to compare my number to an artiste that has several 10,000 people from his or her country,” he said.

“An artiste in Nigeria and an artiste in Ghana can't get the same one million streams in one hour,” he added.

However, he noted that he doesn’t personally find those comparisons frustrating, preferring rather to create his work and targeting his audience, which he says expands yearly.

Referring to Jamaica on the other hand, he said: “Even though Jamaica doesn't have the population, their music travels because their people are out there on the receiving end, which is the UK.”

Samini who is currently promoting his latest single titled 'Good Vibes', advised Ghanaians to desist from the Ghanaian-Nigerian music comparison.
