Photos from #OccupyBoG protest

The much-anticipated #OccupyBoG protest headed by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has commenced as demonstrators have taken to the streets of Accra.

The gathering point for the protesters was at Obra Spot in Circle, from where they will proceed along Adabraka Road, leading to the City Centre. Their route will take them through Cedi House to Independence Square, where they plan to make a U-turn at the National Lottery Authority, all in an effort to press home their demands.

Their primary objective is to demand the immediate removal of the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Ernest Addison and his deputies.

This demand arises from what they described as significant incompetence on the part of these officials, which they believe has directly contributed to the financial challenges faced by the Bank of Ghana.

Clad in black and red attire, the protesters are vocal, chanting songs and holding placards bearing various slogans, including ‘Mr Printer Stop Printing Money For Criminals’, ‘Misgovernor Addison’, and 'Akyem Mafia Government' among others as they express their frustration and convey their demands to the government.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has taken proactive steps to ensure the peaceful facilitation of the ongoing demonstration by deploying its personnel.
