Ghanaian stand-up comedian, Lekzy DeComic, has disclosed that he did not make financial gains from the second edition of his comedy special, Too Cute to be Mute, which was held last year.
He told Kwame Dadzie in an interview on Joy FM's Showbiz A-Z that even though the performers lived up to expectation, he couldn only break even.
"This year I planned not to do a comedy show because of lack of funding. Last year, [I don't want to throw more light on it but] it was a great show even though it wasn't as rewarding as I envisioned. I didn't make money. All I could do was to break even. That's all," he said.
Preparing to host the third edition his comedy special, the comedian pleaded with comedy lovers to attend the event named 'CAN PAIN MESSage.' He also urged more investors to throw their support behind the comedy industry.
According to him, this year show will mainly focus on speeches by past and present political figures. He said he would also allow patrons to put him on the spot to mimick any personality they want.
Lekzy, has over the years, distinguished himself as one of the few great impressionists in the country. He has imitated former Presidents John Agyekum Kuffour, Evan John Atta Mills, Jerry John Rawlings, media personality Countryman Songo, among others.
Lekzy's 'CAN PAIN MESSage' event is slated for 30th September, 2023 at the National Theatre.
Special guest for the show is ace satirist Kwaku Sintim-Misa (KSM).
