Black Avenue Muzik CEO Desmond Kwesi Blackmore, known in the entertainment industry as D-Black, says the diversification of his business portfolios accounts for his success as an entrepreneur.
According to the businessman, the multiple revenue streams from the various companies are enough to offset any debt burden from a single business.
Speaking to Amelley Djosu on a yet-to-be-aired episode of Celeb Biz on Joy Prime, D-Black indicated that having more than one source of income serves as a security for any entrepreneur, especially during a rainy day.
The musician believes the music industry is not always rosy, especially producing hit songs, hence the need to have a fallback strategy.
“You as an artiste don’t have a hit song on the radio, but your club is doing very well, so now the revenue stream is balanced.
"Last year, the majority of the revenue was coming from the music; this year is the club, and maybe the year after you decided to take a break from the club and do some renovation.
"So now the restaurant is making money for you, then the year after you have a hit song again, then you come, then okay, Sefa has a hit song, then it goes up, bro, the ice cream company is shooting up, you have ten branches now, so now there is always a change in who is the leader out of the conglomerate,’’ he said.
The businessman disclosed that his latest business, restaurant La Maison, which is barely eight months old, is arguably one of the top eateries in the country.
Mr Blackmore admitted to picking his mother’s traits of making very good restaurants that meet the quest of many.
D-Black discloses that, together with his mother, a retired quality assurance manager at the Ministry of Tourism and Ghana Tourism Authority, he trained his restaurant staff to serve the best menu.
