The Member of Parliament for Anlo constituency, Mr Kofi Humado, has called on the National House of Chiefs to intervene in the protracted chieftaincy dispute that has engulfed the traditional area.
Numerous efforts by stakeholders to resolve the longstanding dispute has not been successful.
According to him this is affecting development in the area.
Speaking in an interview with Joy News, Mr Humado said chiefs occupy unique and strategic positions in leadership and without them the progress of development can stop.
“Unfortunately in Anlo we have chieftaincy problems for almost five years now without any solution. Issues of this nature should be resolved by chiefs themselves but having waited for five years, I think I want to call on all well meaning citizens particularly those who have conflict resolution skills to bring their services available to see how we can peacefully resolve it,” he said.
He said Anlos and its chiefs should strive towards wooing donor partners into their area like its taking place in the Ashanti region without waiting for the government.
“If you do comparism for example, the Asantehene as King of Ashantis is able to attract development to the extent that he attracts World Bank funding for development, education and infrastructure. Then we also need an Awomefia who is the overall Lord to be a source of hope and beacon for Anlos everywhere they are to be able to attract development partners,” he said.
He said as an MP he is in consultation with eminent Anlo citizens though he admitted that he has not done much to resolve the crisis in the area.
