The Member of Parliament (MP) for Kwadaso, Prof Kingsley Nyarko, has underscored the importance of quality early childhood education as crucial for the development of a young child.
He said education was the driving force behind every successful nation since it was at the heart of enlightenment, skills development and prosperity of individuals and nations.
Prof. Nyarko was addressing teachers, parents and students, during the first graduation ceremony of the Ohwimase M/A Basic School at Beposo, in the Kwadaso Municipality.
The MP said the development of a country rested on a strong early childhood education delivery, so building a solid foundation for children at the kindergarten level prepared children adequately for primary and all other levels of education.
As such, there is the need to pay particular attention to this, he noted.
Prof. Nyarko said acknowledging the importance of education, the government was doing everything possible to ensure that all children of school-going age in the country accessed quality education.
“Education is an important aspect in one’s life which needs critical attention. I wouldn’t be standing here as your MP, if not for education,” he observed.
Prof. Nyarko advised parents to keep firm eyes on their children, adding that they needed to sacrifice their money and time to support their children through their education.
“The teachers alone cannot do this work, they need you to help them with the kids’ education. You need to sacrifice your time and resources to help train them in your various homes because they are your assets,” he advised the parents.
Prof. Nyarko called on all stakeholders to intensify efforts in securing a good start for all children in their formative years and donated a cash sum of GHȻ2000.00 to support the graduation.
Mrs Rhodaline Oti Konadu, the Headmistress of the School, commended the MP for his continuous assistance towards improving education in the area.
“Prof. Nyarko is doing extremely well to enhance effective teaching and learning, particularly in schools in deprived communities. His interest in education remained unparalleled and we as constituents must support him to achieve his vision for the people,” she said.
