The Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank in the Ashanti region is working on introducing online lending to ease the difficulty in accessing loans for business purposes.

Chief Executive Officer, Samuel Bonsu Sekyere, says investments are being made to strengthen the bank’s cyber space to ensure maximum protection of clients.

“You will agree with me that there are mobile money vendors everywhere and so the convenience is maximum. That is the reason behind the introduction of this mobile app. We will deepen the outreach of the mobile app”, he explained.

Mr. Sekyere further added that, “We are introducing other products which will allow you to take a soft loan on the mobile app”.

At the end of the 2021 financial year, loans and advances of Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank grew from GH¢39.1 million to GH¢44.6 million.

Profit margins grew to GH¢7 million in the year under review, a rise from GH¢5.9 million posted in 2020.

In ensuring the convenience of customers in accessing services, the bank is promoting the use of its mobile application.

Cyber-attacks have become the biggest threat to digitalisation in various sectors of the economy, including banking.

Mr. Sekyere says measures are in place to ensure customer safety on the digital platforms.

“We have ensured all the cyber security requirements of the Bank of Ghana are in place to protect customers on the digital platform”, he said.

Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank has launched its 40th Anniversary with various activities in place to enhance customer satisfaction from now till December 2023.
