Presidential Candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, has postponed his national address initially scheduled for Tuesday, September 5.
Mr Kyerematen was to make known the way forward for his campaign following the party’s just-ended Super Delegates’ Conference.
The address, which was scheduled for 2:00 pm at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, according to a press release from his camp has been postponed due to "unforeseen circumstances."
"Due to unforeseen circumstances, we regret to announce the postponement of the intended media engagement by Hon. Alan Kyerematen, which was originally scheduled for today, September 5, 2023, at 2:00 PM," the statement by the Press Aide for the Alan Kyerematen for President Campaign, Barima Sarpong read.
Mr Kyerematen who came third in the Super Delegates election, has already condemned the reported assault on his North-East Regional Coordinator on voting day.
According to him, the action was unwarranted and needless as his representative did nothing wrong at the voting centre.
He added that the incident was a blot on the party’s internal democratic process.
“I wish my colleague a speedy recovery and God’s manifold blessings and would like to assure him and his family of my unwavering support for his well-being,” he added.
Ali Zakaria was allegedly assaulted by supporters of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia after he attempted to prevent a delegate who publicly displayed his cast ballot from dropping the ballot in the box.
Meanwhile, Mr Kyerematen has warned he will not tolerate any further attacks on his supporters.
