The family of the former Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Hanny Sherry Ayittey has announced the dates for her final funeral rites.
According to the family, the former Minister will be laid to rest on Friday, November 10, 2023.
Born on February 8, 1948, the former Minister died on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at age 75.
In a brief statement announcing the funeral plans, the family said, the final rites will begin on Thursday, November 9, 2023, with “Tributes & Song Ministration” followed by the “Burial & Funeral Ceremony,” on Friday and a “Thanksgiving Service” on Sunday, 12 November 2023.
Madam Hanny Sherry Ayittey sided with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during her political career.
After the 2008 presidential election, President John Atta Mills appointed her as Minister for Environment, Science and Technology in his government.
Again, she served as the Minister for Health in Ghana during the presidency of John Evans Atta Mills. She held this position from 2009 to 2013.
After her tenure as Minister for Health, she later served as the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture.
During this time, she was responsible for overseeing policies and initiatives related to the fishing industry and the sustainable management of aquatic resources in Ghana.
She was the Executive Director for MOKAS Women Trust Foundation – Ghana.
