Ghana defender Jerome Opoku has expressed his desire to leave Portuguese side Arouca FC this summer after receiving an offer from Turkey.
The centre-back joined Arouca last summer after leaving English side Fulham and played for the club during the 2022/23 Portuguese season where he excelled for the club.
The 24-year-old made 24 league appearances and earned eight clean sheets as his side finished fifth on the league table.
The player has confirmed the reception of an offer from Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir following his performances for Arouca and is keen on the move.
"Yeah [on receiving an offer], that’s true myself and my representatives have been contacted by Istanbul Basaksehir and I have given them my word that I am ready to make a switch to Turkey, hopefully soon," he told Sportsworldghana.com in an interview.
"I think I have paid my dues at FC Arouca with my performance since joining them and also helping the club play in the UEFA Conference League playoffs.
"I have met with officials of my club- FC Arouca and I told them my stance as far as the offer is concerned so let’s see what happens before the Summer transfer shuts."
Opoku has already played four games for the club this season including featuring in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers.
He came off the bench in Arouca's 2-2 draw with Vizela last weekend in the Primeira Liga.
