Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah has called on members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to support their strong criticisms of the government's economic policies with concrete alternative plans.

According to Richard Ahiagbah, it's not productive to criticise ongoing national development strategies without offering viable solutions that can improve the lives of Ghanaians.

Speaking at a media event in Ho on Monday, August 21, Mr Ahiagbah reiterated that the NPP has not mishandled the economy, maintaining that the Akufo-Addo-led government is working diligently to stabilise the economy following a global economic slowdown.

The NPP Communication Director questioned the moral standing of the NDC to criticise the management of the economy, suggesting that NDC lack ideas for the economy in their eagerness to regain power.

“We still do not know the NDC’s development plans for the country if they return to power.

“God forbid, but when the NPP was in opposition, Ghanaians knew of the Free SHS policy they would enjoy under the NPP,” Mr Ahiagbah added.

Mr Ahiagbah pointed out that during the NPP's time in opposition, they clearly presented their Free SHS policy to Ghanaians.

He urged the media to provide comprehensive analysis of economic discussions without favouring any political side.

“So, your work must independently be vetted,” he said.

Mr Ahiagbah made it clear that the NPP does not consider any media organisation as its opponent, however, he expects objective reporting from the media to present the truth to Ghanaians.
