Renowned award-winning makeup artist and beauty expert, Sandra Don Arthur also known as Alexandrina Makeup has launched her masterclass 'Beyond the Brushes with Alexandrina' to empower Ghanaian makeup artists with the expertise for industry success.
The masterclass held at The Fitzgerald in East Cantonments, Accra and produced by Debonair Afrik Studios was a massive success and attended by over 100 makeup artists and enthusiasts.
Some notable guests that attended include Sacha Okoh, founder and creative director at SO Aesthetics, Gilbert Asante, award-winning editorial photographer, Akai Kotei, fashion and beauty content creator and Cynthia Ama Gadzanku, a certified makeup artist and skincare formulator.
The masterclass began with the conversation “Navigating the Beauty Industry” with Ghanaian beauty industry players including Sacha Okoh, Akai Kotei, Cynthia Ama Gadzanku and Gilbert Asante.
Speakers shared insights on how makeup artists and beauty professionals could continue to stay relevant in its fast-evolving trends, work with beauty brands globally and achieve success.
Following this, Alexandrina taught attendees invaluable makeup techniques that she had perfected throughout her journey in two major demonstrations.
- The Traditional Bridal Demo: Alexandrina showed how she created long-lasting bridal glam looks for clients while teaching the class techniques to cater to all their client’s needs and expectations.
- The Creative Editorial Demo: Alexandrina led attendees through the process of creating a unique editorial look and tips that help to save time and earn more money
“This year marks my 12th anniversary in the beauty industry and my journey has been a rewarding yet complex one. Some of the lessons that I have shared, I wish I was taught 12 years ago to make things smooth. My masterclass is a way to give back to my community, empower them and also share my knowledge with makeup artists globally,” Sandra Don Arthur shared.
The class was climaxed with exciting giveaways for attendees courtesy of beauty brands such as SO Aesthetics, Hair Senta, Rozay, Colorbox Cosmetics, and Shaded Beauty.
“More than just a masterclass, this was also an empowerment session for makeup artists. We know the pains that come with building a makeup kit so I partnered with top Ghanaian brands to help makeup artists. We have gifted attendees makeup items worth thousands of cedis to start them on this journey. I am very grateful for my partners,” Sandra added.
In 2018, Sandra Don Arthur became the first Ghanaian makeup artist to participate in the New York Fashion Week. She is also a two-time award-winning makeup artist at the Ghana Makeup Awards for Best Editorial and Best Makeup Artist.
