Poetra Asantewa and the Apogee band are girding up to treat lovers of arts to a concert dubbed ‘Prelude to a Poem’ at Alisa Hotel, North Ridge.
The event will take place at the Botsio Hall of of the Hotel on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
‘Prelude to a Poem’ is the latest release from one of Ghana’s multifaceted artists – Poetra Asantewa. There isn’t a single project Poetra has dropped that hasn’t made waves locally and beyond borders, whether it’s a book, or an album or a play, Poetra’s excellence is a constant. Her latest release – Prelude to a poem, is no different.
Prelude to a poem gives a preview into the artist’s remarkable evolution. This EP mixes poetry with alternative R&B, a little pop, jazz and neo-soul to create a theatrical sound bed of storytelling. It explores themes like vulnerability, surviving in a capitalist world, finding love in mundane and peculiar places and the reality of diasporic relationships.

There’s no way you can listen to Prelude to a poem and not fall in love with Poetra – or at the very least – have a deep appreciation for her craft.
