Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidential aspirant, George Afriyie has reacted angrily to the decision of the football governing body to demand GH¢50,000 filing fee for its presidential elections.
The former vice president of the association noted that FIFA and CAF have money set aside for governance and this is a standard practice globally.
However, the FA took a route he feels is alien to football elections.
"The FA president and the Executive Council have asked us to pay GH¢50,000. If my brother, Kurt Okraku wants to contest for FIFA positions, president of CAF position, the Executive Council, ask him whether he is going to pay money," he said.
"At FIFA and CAF, there is money for governance. You do not need to pay filing fees but in our situation, the FA finds it prudent that we need organizational cost so pay GH¢50,000."
Afriyie is expected to contest Kurt Okraku for the presidential seat in the elections which come off on September 27.
