The Chiefs and Residents of Sehwi Ahibenso in the Bodi District have given the government a two-week ultimatum to bring back the contractors who were working on the Bodi to Ahibenso road to complete the project.
The stretch in the Western North Region is in a deplorable state making movement very difficult for commuters.
The road has not seen any reshaping in the past eight years making the stretch muddy, with potholes, and a pool of water all over the road.
Some of the community members shared with Adom News their grievances.
Addressing their concerns, the Twafohene of Sehwi Ahibenso, Nana Kwaku Ngisenah said the road is blocked and has become difficult for drivers and travelers.
He indicated that the previous and current governments have failed to construct their road and their Member of Parliament, Sampson Ahi, and the District Chief Executive (DCE) Ignatius Akwasi Amankwa have also ceased to function on their road issues.
The chief recounted that ahead of the 2020 election, President Akufo-Addo promised that the 20km road has been awarded to three contractors yet nothing had been done.
Nana Kwaku Ngisenah added that the Ahibenso residents will embark on a demonstration if the government fails to address their concerns. The chiefs also threatened that they will not allow any political activities in their community if this is not done.
Furthermore, the assemblyman for Ahibenso electoral area, Stephen Armah said he has been following up on the road to the office of the District Chief Executive and the Regional Minister but nothing has been done.
