Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Chief Executive Samuel Okoe Amanquah who is vying to become New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s parliamentary candidate has described as abysmal the performance of past MPs parliament and current legislator Joseph Akuerteh Tettey.
He said these parliamentarians representing the people on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over the last three decades have been awful and it is high time the party is ditched.
According to him, 2024 presents a new opportunity and phase for the New Patriotic Party to present a formidable candidate who could unseat the incumbent.
Speaking to Joy News after the submission and filing of forms, he believes it is possible to wrestle the seat from the NDC.
“As NPP, we have not been successful since 1992 in Kpone-Katamanso but for the first time, the party is resolved and the people are ready to wrestle power from the NDC,” he said.
“I have offered myself to lead the party to victory in 2024. Having picked up my forms a few weeks ago and submitting the forms completes the process of competing in the primaries,” he explained.
For him, the constituency has a number of challenges including a deplorable road network which need great minds to push and lobby as part of developing the area.
Some party faithful throwing their support behind the MCE are of the view, Samuel Okoe Amanquah stands a better chance of making history.
The parliamentary candidate hopeful has called for unity within the NPP in Kpone-Katamanso to accomplish the task ahead with the internal elections expected to be held between September and December this year.
