During the just-ended road trip taken by a group of Ghanaians from Accra to London, it was revealed that the team had endeavored to establish a partnership with a local company, Kantanka Automobile.
The team leader, Kwabena Peprah, shared their efforts to involve local brands in the venture. On Facebook, he wrote that they had reached out to the company's management, but received no acknowledgment whatsoever.
In a Facebook post, Peprah indicate that “we flirted with almost every major car dealer in Ghana, and they all literally told us to fork off. Tsigliwigliadzi Kormetorkpor Ometahidior tried to bring in Kantanka so we promote "made" in Ghana, but the CEO wouldn't even meet with us.
“We decided to go with whichever vehicles we had at the time, so we selected July 25, 2020, as the departure date.”
The 16-day trip eventually concluded over the weekend, eliciting excitement from many Ghanaians.
Given the achievements accomplished through this initiative, several individuals have asserted that the local manufacturer missed out on a valuable opportunity to promote their products.
In response to the criticism, the CEO of Kantanka Group seems to align with the perspective that an advantageous chance was neglected, which could have been leveraged for his outfit's benefit.
