The National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) says the revelations by the wife of the deceased brother of Cecilia Dapaah has exposed the Attorney-General's attempt to cover up the matter.

This follows Madam Irene Kensah's statement denying knowledge of the $800,000 belonging to her late husband which is said to be part of $1 million allegedly stolen from the home of the former Sanitation Minister.

Speaking in an interview with Sompa FM on Friday, August 4, Madam Kensah said her late husband never mentioned the money.

“I know nothing about that money. I heard about it just like all of you did. I was on my way to meet my lawyer about a letter of administration and the issue only came up when I was with him.”

“So after my lawyer became aware, it has now become apparent that the money needs to be retrieved,” she added.

This revelation, however, is in sharp contrast with the position of the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice.

The A-G in his advice to the police said they erred in allocating the entire $1 million to Cecilia Dapaah on their charge sheet since some belonged to her late brother.

Subsequently, Mr Sammy Gyamfi has called out the A-G based on the interview by Madam Kensah.

In a tweet on Saturday, August 5, Mr Gyamfi said “The latest revelation by the wife of the deceased brother of Cecilia Dapaah is the smoking gun that shows clearly that the AG’s advice on the Cecilia Dapaah scandal is contrived and an unintelligent attempt to coverup the true facts of the case which has outraged the entire nation.

"Lies indeed have a short life span,” he added.
