Black Stars defender Mohammed Salisu has described his move to AS Monaco as a 'big step' for his career.
The Ghana international penned a five-year deal with the club which was made official on Tuesday, August 1. His deal with the Ligue 1 side will see him stay in France until June 2028.
Prior to his move to Monaco, Salisu played at Southampton where he had a three-year stint until they suffered relegation at the end of the 2022/23 season.
The 24-year-old shared his first words after completing his transfer to the club.
"[Monaco] is a great club and I am very happy to be here. This is a big step for me in my career," he told the club's media.
"I am looking forward to the journey and to win games and be the best team that we can be."
The 24-year-old had a year left on his deal at St Mary’s Park but Monaco moved swiftly to secure his signature in a deal said to be worth 17 million Euros.
His last appearance for the Saints was in March and was dropped towards the end of last season owing to worries about his commitment.
He moved to Southampton for £10.9 million, where he spent a fruitful three-year stint before leaving. Salisu made a total of 80 appearances in all competitions for the club during his stay in England.
