Businesses and offices located in the Silver Star Tower and other installations around the airport will be sealed off to the public for the period of US President Barack Obama’s visit this weekend.
The structure as well as other buildings making up the Airport City Project will all be shut down for the period.
In a report filed by Joy News’ Sammy Darko, the shutdown is part of measures to ensure the security and safety of the US President.
All approaches to the airport are also expected to be sealed off with checkpoints to screen people who may have to necessarily enter the area.
According to a copy of the letter notifying tenants of the shutdown from 5pm on Friday to 6am on Sunday, staff are supposed to leave the building by 4pm on Friday.
It says vehicles will not be allowed in the parking lots except for cars parked in the basement of the building.
Security officers on duty during the period are also required to register in advance with the Police Command in order to be permitted entry.
The Silver Star building houses at least two banks and several other companies.
At least two other high rises within Airport City, the Manet Tower, which houses the UT Bank, and UNA Home which houses Barclays Bank will be affected, except for the Holiday Inn Hotel where Joy Business has learnt the US President may be staying.
The hotel which is presently swarmed by US government officials is not admitting guests or taking reservations for the period whilst arrangements have been made to relocate guests already lodging there.
The hotel’s managers however say they are not aware Barack Obama would be staying there.
