Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has expressed his disappointment with the management of Kotoko, describing the club as the only ‘institution’ embarrassing his stool.
The Asante ruler took a tour of the club’s Adako Jachie training facility project, started in 2021 and yet to be completed.
He’s also ordered the club to clear its debt of over GHc3m before signing players ahead of the new betPawa league season which kicks off in six weeks.
“The current debt is from hotel expenses, players salaries and wages - which have been accrued also from the last two months adding June and July. So we have this debt to clear, before also finding a way around player recruitment,” Otumfuo said in Twi.
“As for you [Kotoko], you are the only ones disgracing me.”
The meeting at the Manhyia Palace was attended by former players of the club, as well as supporters and stakeholders.
2021/22 league winning coach, Prosper Ogum Narteh has returned to the club one year after his departure.
Also, the Asantehene has set up an interim management committee made up of former Black Stars coach, James Kwesi Appiah.
Ogum Narteh also sits on the interim committee alongside Nana Apinka Akwasi Awua and Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi, the club’s administrative manager.
