The official launch of Ghana Music Awards UK 2023 is scheduled to take place on Friday, August 4, 2023, at the Labadi Beach Hotel, in Accra, Ghana.
The purpose of the award programme is to honour and celebrate the achievements of Ghanaian musicians throughout the year.
Industry players expected to grace the occasion are executives of both organising bodies as well as managers of musicians. The list of potential attendees includes fans, promoters, industry players, and journalists covering the entertainment industry.
The maiden edition of the award was held in 2016 and it has successfully reached the 7th year since its inception. Even though the event takes place in the United Kingdom, it kicks off in Ghana to bring a feel of it to the indigenes and also create awareness of Ghanaians in the diaspora.
The Ghana Music Awards UK opened submissions for artists, producers, and other members of the music industry to submit their work for consideration in the forthcoming seventh edition on April 12, 2023, and ended on May 30.
Last year, Hip-hop musician Black Sherif swept the night’s prizes, taking home a total of five awards (including Musician of the Year). Akwaboah, a highlife singer and songwriter, got three awards, and Eugy and Headie One each won two.
Meanwhile, hip-hop legend Reggie Rockstone was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award, and TiC and Zoro King received special recognition awards
