SIMMS Senior High School has booted out defending Ashanti Regional champions Opoku Ware School to book a place at the grand finale of the Ashanti Regional Championship of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).
The boys from the school who stood their ground with their eyes fixated on clinching the regional trophy won the first contest of the semifinal stage with 34 points.
Their closest contender, Kumasi High School managed to garner 30 points while Opoku Ware School came third with 26 points.
Konongo Odumase Senior High School exited the competition with 21 points.
It was a keen contest in the first and second rounds of the contest, but the contestants from SIMMS SHS remained resolute leaving no stone unturned to cross their hurdle.
Opoku Ware School who had wanted to push back in the second round only toppled to the last position at the end of the round after attempting most of the speed race questions wrongly.
In hopes of overturning the contest in the fourth round, Opoku Ware School rushed to answer the first riddle but let down the hopes of their supporters.
