Graduates of St. Monica's College of Education in the Ashanti Region have been advised to love what they chose to learn and accomplish during their four years at the college.

"This may require drastic adjustments to your expectations and original plans as far as the teaching profession is concerned," Principal, Dr. Okyere Korankye urged.

Dr Korankye was speaking at the 14th graduation ceremony of the college where 412 students who satisfied graduation requirements were awarded.

Dr. Korankye also counseled students to trust in themselves and live their own lives - to read more and study new things as often as possible in order to keep up with the changing world's trends.

"Don't compare your beginning to someone else's middle or end. Be positive and do things that make you uncomfortable. By doing this you are challenging yourself for higher achievement," he cautioned.

The principal urged them to begin saving for retirement because there is no better time than now.

The graduates were admonished to pursue further studies and upgrade their current status.

"I pray you take your professional development programmes seriously and let the sky be your limit."

"Bear in mind that, the pupil who will be entrusted in your care would also look up to you to help mould their character."

Several speakers during the occasion, including Dr. Irene Kafui Vorsah of the University of Cape Coast, encouraged the graduates to demonstrate the outstanding training they received at the college and to aspire to be all-around discipline teachers.

"The transition from teacher-trainee to professional teacher will mark a significant change on your lifestyle, goals and routine. And you have to quickly learn what it takes to make a successful transition to the world of professional teaching," Dr. Korankye indicated.

The graduating cohort is the first batch of the B.Ed programme who completed their course of study in 2022.
