The Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Sam George says as much as he admires the boldness of Yvonne Nelson to have written such a book, he is still of the view that certain information should remain private.
According to him, the comments around the book suggest that she was selective in sharing the stories when it was supposed to be what he calls a “tell it all”.
“But I still hold the view that certain things ought to remain private, no matter how bold or blatant you want to be, that’s why there’s a word called privacy,” he said.
The MP said he encourages people to write books to tell their life stories but there should be a measure of the amount of personal information shared.
“I think people must write books to tell their stories but you must be able to measure what you put out and what you don’t put out.”
“Imaging me putting out a book and chronicling all the times my wife and I have had a fight, what intent and purpose does that serve, putting out the sordid details of fights or putting out sordid details of your private life that go a long way to hurt other people outside of you?”
“You begin to question some of those things,” he said.
Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Nelson launched her popular memoir, “I am not Yvonne Nelson” on Sunday June 18, 2023 at the Peduase Valley Resort.
The book talks about her life, family, love and other life events. It is currently available on Amazon and other platforms. It has become the Number 3 bestseller on Amazon books.
