As her official introduction as a recording artist, soul-pop and afro-fusion singer/songwriter, Anabel Rose, is set to release her debut single, 'Love Me or Die' (LMOD), on June 22.
The pop-rock and soul-pop fusion track takes on the guise of a love song. Love Me or Die, invites listeners into a colourful interpretation of the kaleidoscopic feelings that come with infatuation.
The song works to introduce audiences to the singer’s wide vocal range whilst bringing to light her lyrical finesse.
The budding songstress creates music to escape the restrictions of a world that dictates what people can and cannot do. Her musical journey has been shaped by the influence of a melting pot of genres including indie-folk, r&b, classic rock, reggae, highlife, and hiplife.
She looks up to artists who are unapologetic in their sound, fusing a range of genres to birth new and exciting sounds. This includes Amaarae, Somadina, WILLOW and Odunsi.
This piece is a collaboration with Ghanaian producer/engineer kxlab and Ghanaian guitarist Julian Andoh who laid over electric guitar chord progressions, riffs and melodies.
Anabel Rose delights into how both collaborators understood and embodied the vision for the song.
