Private Health Facility, Sonotech Medical and Diagnostic Center in collaboration with the National Blood Service has organized a blood donation exercise as part of their activities to mark its 10th Anniversary celebration in Accra.
The exercise, which had over 70 registrations and 60 eligible donors took place at the West Hills Mall in Accra on Saturday, 17th June, 2023, under the supervision of the National Blood Service. Other sponsors for the event were the WestHills Mall, Nestle Ghana, Sunda International, Malta Guinness, and NewYork Sizzler.
The Branch Manager of Sonotech at the West Hills Mall, and Head of the Blood Donation Committee, Mr. Henry Danso who led the exercise said the event was aimed at raising awareness about the critical need for blood donations and urged the public to support this worthy cause.
The General Manager of Sonotech Medical and Diagnostic Center, Mr. Dominic Kulariba who set an example by donating blood himself shared his personal motivation saying, “As someone working in the medical field, I understand the critical need for blood donations. Donating blood is not just a responsibility; it is a privilege to be able to contribute to someone’s well-being and possibly save a life.”
Also, in a remarkable show of solidarity, staff of Sonotech also stepped forward to donate blood not only to underscore their belief in the cause, but to also serve as an inspiration for others to follow suit. The event also had popular Blogger, Kobby Kyei donating blood.
Sharing her experience after donating, Miss Akosua Apefa, said “I have witnessed firsthand the importance of blood transfusions when a family member required one. Since then, I have made it a regular practice to donate blood and encourage others to do the same.”
The Event Committee expressed gratitude to all participants, partners, and volunteers who contributed to the event.
“The overwhelming support and engagement we witnessed today are truly heartening. We are immensely grateful to everyone who came forward to donate blood and support this cause. It is through collective efforts that we can make a lasting impact on the lives of those in need,” they said.
Media partners, Adoa TV and Pluzz Fm, lent their extensive reach and coverage to ensure that the event received widespread attention, raising awareness about the importance of blood donation and encouraging more people to get involved.
