Six Senior High Schools are gearing up to make a statement for the Upper East region in the 2023 National Science and Math Quiz championship slated later this year.
The schools, Notre Dame Seminary, Navrongo SHS, Awe SHTS, Bolgatanga SHS, Sandema SHS, and Bongo SHS will be amongst at least 135 qualified schools from across Ghana to battle for the bragging rights as the school with the best brains.
Bongo SHS, in what appeared to be a mild contest for them, booked a slot in the national tournament with 23 points against their contenders who struggled to garner a point.
Although their qualification score was the least among the qualified schools, they are not perturbed as they are promising to go back to the tables and hone their skills for the national competition.
Twenty-two schools from the Upper East region slugged it out to secure one of the coveted six available slots for the region in the national championship.
Notre Dame Seminary in a masterful display extended Bolgatanga Girls’ losing streak after beating them by a 30-point margin.
The sons of Mother Mary are taking every contest gradually to hopefully land the national trophy.
Bolgatanga SHS triumphed over their compatriots in an impressive run, winning their contest with 53 points.
Extending their lead at each round of the contest, Big BOSS, as they are locally referred to, are certain of a better performance at the national championship after exiting the 2022 championship with an indelible 3 points.
The students are hoping to rewrite their history as the 'Pride of the East.'
Meanwhile, Navrongo SHS is entering the national championship with the highest score of 54 points in the Upper East region.
The boys say this is the least of their performance for this year’s championship.
Sandema SHS and Awe SHTS are fortifying themselves to face off any competition.
Having no school from the region seeded in this year’s competition, the six schools are resolved to at least exit the national tournament as one of the seeded schools for the next edition.
