The Sagnarigu Municipal Football Association has dismissed the coach of Tiyumba Ladies, Iddrisu S. Napari, as its chairperson of the Women's Football Committee.
This was after Napari brutalised a female referee, Mohammed Sakina Nasara, on Saturday during a Northern Region Women's Division Two League game at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium annex.
"The Disciplinary Committee... writes officially to relieve you of your position as the chairperson of the Women Football Committee of Sagnarigu Municipal Football Association," a letter signed by Baba Nuhu, the Sagnarigu Municipal FA Disciplinary Committee chairman, said on Sunday.
"This decision is to safeguard the reputation of our Association and also to put confidence in the women's game of our District."
Distressing pictures of a helpless Sakina Nasara surfaced on social media over the weekend after she sustained various degrees of injuries from the assault.
The police in Tamale have mounted a search for coach Iddrisu S. Napari, who was reportedly in hiding on Sunday.
However, Baba Nuhu told Joy Sports the coach has promised he will report to the police station on Monday.
"As of Monday morning, the police still don't have information of his whereabouts, but I reached out to him on WhatsApp after he didn't answer my calls and he told me he will report to the police station himself."
Baba Nuhu, who is also the head coach of Ghana's U17 Women's National Team, the Black Maidens, disclosed the referee is recovering steadily and has been discharged from the Tamale Technical University Hospital.
