The Migrant Labour General Workers Union International (MLGWUI) has put its demands before the global Heads of State as they get ready to mark the 2023 International Domestic Workers' Day.

International Domestic Workers' Day is celebrated every year on June 16.

The theme for the celebration is "Domestic Worker is an Essential Worker Deserving Decent Work Agenda, Respect and Pension Scheme."

The Migrant Labour General Workers Union International (MLGWUI) is a migrant trade union organisation ensuring Decent Work, Social Justice, Social Protection, Education, Cultural Linguistic, Occupation Safety and Health for Migrant Workers, Returned Migrant (Returnees), Refugees, International Volunteers-Students in Africa and Diaspora.

In this year 2023 commemoration of International Domestic Workers' Day, the Migrant Labour General Workers Union International (MLGWUI) demands from global Heads of State, employment agencies/agents and household/domestic employers as follows:

1. MLGWUI demands all global Heads of State to ratify the UN Convention (ILO) No.189 for Decent Work for Domestic Workers;

2. Government of Ghana must enforce Domestic Workers' Regulations to ensure all Domestic Employers, Agencies/Agents are complied with.

3. Domestic Workers who earn below National Daily Minimum Wage show report to MLGWUI or Labour Departments for Defence.

4. MLGWUI urged Domestic Employers and Domestic Workers to contact MLGWUI for Written Domestic Employment Contact Agreement.

5. Ministry of Labour and Employment Relations with her agencies including Labour Department should conduct research in order to stop the activities of Unethical Recruitment Agencies/Agents that worsen the beautiful and precious lives of African Female Domestic Workers in the Gulf or Arabia or other Countries.

6. Ministries of Gender, Children and Social Protection in Africa should engage MLGWUI in their national stakeholder's meetings.

7. ILO should focus its attention on Gulf countries against the Kafala System of Employment: confiscation of Domestic Workers' Documents, domestic abuse and exploitation.

8. Agencies/agents who collect huge amounts of money with agreed-on Employment Relations in labour migration to Schengen Countries but internally make transit in Africa Countries and dump their Client Domestic Workers there to stop such an act immediately.

9. Deportee Domestic Workers should report their abused agencies/agents to MLGWUI or Labour Departments for befitted compensations.

10. Returned Domestic Migrants can seek employment assistance with MLGWUI to avoid going into prostitution.

11. Returned Domestic Migrants should contact MLGWUI for Returnees' Business and Coaching Training Sessions and Financial Support for Sustainable Self-employment.

12. Domestic Workers should join Migrant Labour General Workers Union International (MLGWUI) for Decent Work, Social Protection; Pre-Decison Department Information, and Returning Psychosocial Counseling.
