The Mankpang Youth Association at Mankpang in the Central Gonja District of Savannah Region has given their chief, Mankpangwura Abdulai Sadik Achode, a one-week ultimatum to either relocate to the area or face their wrath.
Mankpangwura Abudlai Sadik Achode since his enskinment a year ago has been living in another Traditional Area, Buipe, a situation the youth said is unacceptable.
According to them, his absence is creating a huge void in his duties to his people.
Addressing the press at Mankpang, the youth warned that if the chief fails to yield to their demands, they would be left with no choice but to embark on a mammoth demonstration against him.
They accused him of alleged inhumane treatment towards his people, which according to them, would no longer be tolerated.
The Vice Chairman of the Mankpang Youth Association, Ahmed Salia, recalled that on April 7th this year, the youth, as part of some alleged misrule and gross misconduct exhibited by the chief, also raised three major concerns in their petition to the Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I for redress.
"He has sworn never to sleep in Mankpang, not to talk of staying in the community. He has vowed never to allow any development to take place within the Mankpang Traditional Area, and he keeps insulting and disrespecting the people of Mankpang Traditional Area, the same people he swore an oath to serve", the spokesperson of the youth indicated.
"We, therefore wish to state that enough is enough, and henceforth any attempts by him to treat us the people as slaves on our land, shall be fiercely resisted, using every legitimate tool available to us. Such barbaric actions by a chief are completely unbecoming and highly condemnable. Through his shameless actions, he keeps dragging the name of the community and the Traditional Area in the mud. His unruly behaviour keeps bringing shame to the good people of Mankpang", Mr Salia insisted.
But in a telephone interview after several efforts, the chief in an angry tone told Joy News that he would not respond to the allegations levelled against him.
"I'll not, I'm not ready to respond to anything. Yes, that's all. I'm not ready to respond to anything ", Chief Abdulai Sadik Achode fumed.
