The National Teaching Council (NTC) has commenced the issuance of licenses to newly qualified teachers and teachers who have been exempted from the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) nationwide.
The exercise which started on 15th May 2023 would end on 14th June 2023 and would see 19,484 teachers receiving their License.
Dr Christian Addai-Poku, Registrar of the NTC, who announced this on Monday in Accra stated that centres have been created in the regions for the teachers to receive their licence on scheduled dates between 15th May and 14th June 2023.
He indicated that the Greater Accra Region has 5447 teachers, the largest, who are expected to receive their licence within the period while the Savanna region has 189, the least number, expected to receive their licence.
Dr Addai-Poku was upbeat that with the measures put in place, the distribution would go on smoothly to attain the purpose of the exercise.
He appealed to all stakeholders to cooperate with the personnel assigned to the project to ensure a smooth process.
The Registrar appealed to all Regional, Municipal, Metropolitan and District Directors of Education to actively monitor the process to ensure a successful exercise.
Dr Addai-Poku stated that the NTC would continue to put in place policies and measures to ensure that the right initiatives and procedures were put in place to ensure that teachers work with the right qualification, adhere to required standards and uphold professionalism to enhance effective teaching and learning.
